Dear Santa: Please tell the Parliament of Canada to remove Cannabis from the drug schedule.

Dear Santa: Please tell the Parliament of Canada to remove Cannabis from the drug schedule.

Dear Santa Claus,
cc: Members of the Parliament of Canada/Parlement du Canada
cc: The Senate of Canada

For the past 2 years i have been working on this project to get a cannabis policy statement from all Members of Parliament.   I then made a series of slides, and posted them on various websites on the internet.  This allows anyone to simply to an internet search and find each of their statements.

I have found that 95 Parliamentarians made some kind of statement in support of ending prohibition, while 139 made statements in opposition and an astounding 73 have FAILED to make a clear public statement (where it can be found on the internet).
Santa: You can review all of the statements on slideshare.

Considering that Colorado has legalized recreational cannabis for one year now and is doing very well, it's it time to follow?

Considering that in California 'Concentrated cannabis qualifies as medical marijuana, California court rules'

and Considering that in Illinois, Children will be able to get access to cannabis oil and extracts.
'Children will get access to medical marijuana in Illinois'
Under the rules taking effect next year, minors will be allowed access to medical marijuana only through such means as foods or liquid drops. Smokable pot will remain prohibited for them.

Why can't Canada be a LEADER for a change, and come right out and simply REMOVE CANNABIS FROM THE DRUG SCHEDULE.

Santa, Please tell all of the members of Parliament that removing cannabis from the drug schedule is the right thing todo. As the leader Niki Ashton has recommended 'Let the provinces figure it out'.

Prohibition of use of this plant is IMMORAL and UNETHICAL.

This holiday season, adults are legally allowed to drink alcohol and be 'marry' .. yet to responsibly enjoy cannabis in all of it's forms to 'be happy' is a CRIMINAL OFFENSE!

So Santa, please give each Member of parliament the gift of education, consider watching 'Clearing the Smoke: The Science of Cannabis' - YouTube www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aTbnO9I-TU  and help encourage the 95 Members of Parliament to reach out to the 139 on the other side to learn a different view, and educate those 73 parliamentarians so they can speak out to support ending prohibition. .. and remind the Conservatives the REAL conservatives support legalization - Canadian Conservatives For Legal Marijuana - www.CCFLM.ca   This is a TRILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY that can be BIGGER THAN OIL.  It has far more uses, and help the environment too.

So as you drink yourself silly, remember that Cannabis is Safer than Alcohol. .. and that there are Billions of people around the world who can benefit from cannabis, and will look to Canada as a LEADER for being the 1st country in the world to totally remove it from the drug schedule, and let the provinces decide how to deal with it.

Thank you.
Sam Vekemans,
Victoria, BC
P.S. Yes, I have already contacted the Victoria Member of Parliament Murray Rankin, and have published his statement.  I am requesting that all Members of Parliament make a clear statement, a simple 'Yes' or 'No' on the question of "Will you support a motion to simply remove cannabis from the drug schedule?' is all that is needed.

PPS. For the Senators of Canada, in 2015 I will be contacting each and every one of you, after doing a through internet search, to see if you support prohibition or not (yes or no) and have made a public statement already.   I suspect that Governor General David Johnson will be approving of Harpers Call for an early election, and my focus will be on getting statements from candidates.  As the Senate does get the final say, and it would be better if there was known support already.  (as it's common knowledge that Canadians already want this to pass, so to not fall behind the USA)
