John Baird
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Mr. Speaker, this
government has taken substantial efforts to try to curb smoking. One of
the things we will not do is try to legalize marijuana. We think that is
not in the best interests of middle-class families across the country.
We believe we should get tough on drug dealers, people who sell drugs to
our children. We believe this is very important.
If the Liberal Party saw this as a huge priority, why did it not campaign on it in the last election campaign?

@HonJohnBaird Isn't it about time to unschedule Cannabis? This IS in the best interest of Canadians. Thanks in advance for your support!

Trudeau’s marijuana mea culpa sparks the great parliamentary pot debate
Waterloo Region Record

"
For the record, Foreign Affairs Minister
John Baird says he has stayed away from the drug after seeing a U.S.
Supreme Court nominee withdraw after it emerged he had smoked marijuana
in college.
"I came of age politically in the 1980s and I
can recall when one of President (Ronald) Reagan's nominees for the
U.S. Supreme Court had to withdraw because of his use of that substance,
so I took my example from that," Baird said.

Dear Hon. John Baird,
Do you support the simple removal of Cannabis/Marijuana from the criminal code of Canada, and let it be treated the same as Lettuce, Tomato, Oregano, Roses, Aloe Vera, Fern or any other common garden herb, flower or house plant?
Do you know the difference between Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Ruderalis?
I look forward to receiving your responses as it will be made public, so then others wont need to ask you the same question.
Kind regards,
Sam Vekemans (address)
P.S. All 303 Members of Parliament are being asked these same questions.
