Minister Blaney statement on marijuana seizure at Edmonton Airport

Ottawa, Ontario, October 31, 2013 – The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, today commended the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) following the seizure of 200 kilograms of marijuana at the Edmonton International Airport. This is one of the largest single amounts of marijuana seized by the CBSA this year.
“I commend the CBSA officers at the Edmonton International Airport whose vigilance led to this significant seizure,” said Minister Blaney. “Intercepting illegal drugs destined for our streets is essential to tackling the issue of serious crime. Our government has been clear: individuals who attempt to smuggle illicit substances into Canada will face the full force of the law.”

Dear Hon. Steven Blaney,
Do you support the simple removal of Cannabis/Marijuana from the criminal code of Canada, and let it be treated the same as Lettuce, Tomato, Oregano, Roses, Aloe Vera, Fern or any other common garden herb, flower or house plant?
Do you know the difference between Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Ruderalis?
I look forward to receiving your responses as it will be made public, so then others wont need to ask you the same question.
