My other question is
for Mr. Shavluk. Mr. Shavluk, I understand that you want to legalize
drugs. Would you allow children to take drugs? Where would it stop?
Is it not true that
decriminalization might even result in the criminals turning their
attention to younger and younger children? Children are already being
inducted into the drug subculture in alarmingly high numbers.
If you legalize it, do
you assume that there is a natural limit to the demand for these drugs
and that if their consumption were legalized, the demand would not
increase substantially?
Price and availability
would exert a profound effect on consumption. The cheaper alcohol
becomes, for example, the more it is consumed, at least within quite
wide limits. Why wouldn't it be the same for marijuana or crystal meth?
Could you please explain?

******Nina Grewal Challenges Minister Over Marijuana Grow-Ops Fiasco October 22, 2004
OTTAWA – Nina Grewal, Member of Parliament for Fleetwood-Port Kells, today challenged Public Works Minister Scott Brison in Question Period over reports that previously seized grow-operation equipment, auctioned off by Public Works as surplus equipment, has turned up in recent police raids. “I find it incredible that this government takes the problem of grow-ops so lightly”, said Mrs. Grewal. “For them to be auctioning off equipment already seized once by the police – only to have it turn up again in other grow-ops – shows just how little the government cares about this extremely serious problem.” Mrs. Grewal raised the issue in Question Period in response to reports that police in the Toronto area had seized equipment in grow-op raids that bore police evidence marks, signifying that it had been confiscated in previous arrests. The equipment was transferred to Public Works and Government Services Canada after being used as evidence in criminal proceedings. The department routinely auctions surplus government assets such as vehicles, computers and furniture. “As we all know, Surrey has a massive grow-op epidemic on its hands,” noted Mrs. Grewal. “We don’t yet know if this practice has occurred in our area, but the fact that the government would sell previously-seized grow-op equipment to grow-op operators at a discount is completely unacceptable. I’m pleased the Minister has agreed to put a stop to it.”

re: Does Nina Grewal support the removal of cannabis as a schedule II controlled substance from the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (S.C. 1996, c. 19)?
Dear Nina Grewal,
Do you support the simple removal of cannabis as a schedule II controlled substance from the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (S.C. 1996, c. 19)?, and let it be treated the same as Lettuce, Tomato, Oregano, Roses, Aloe Vera, Fern or any other common garden herb, flower or house plant?
Do you know the difference between Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Ruderalis?
I look forward to receiving your responses as it will be made public, so then others wont need to ask you the same question.
Kind regards,
Sam Vekemans (address)
P.S. All 307 Members of Parliament are being asked these same questions.
