Thanks for your e-mail regarding the NDP’s position on marijuana. In regards to the NDP, we were the first party to support decriminalization in 1999. At our convention in 2011 a more updated resolution was passed (see below). Although the resolution begins with a position on InSite, it ends with a clear direction for a non-criminal, regulatory approach.

I have consistently opposed prohibition drug policies as harmful and archaic, and supported the need for drug policy reform. I will continue to work for this.
