Mr. Speaker, I am pleased that alternatives are not being ruled
out. There is a case to be made that there is abuse of the substance and
that there are very negative health effects to smoking marijuana,
particularly over a long period of time. There is also the fact that the
medical use of marijuana may be sending mixed signals to other members
of our society, in particular our younger and more impressionable
citizens. The member did highlight a wide range of numbers, between $5 million to $24 million to produce this product. Perhaps the members from B.C. are more able to answer this, but it seems that growing marijuana can be done at a much cheaper way in a much safer location.
I wonder if the member could comment on any price reduction.

Mr. Speaker, the government-run marijuana grow op in a base
metal mine in Flin Flon, Manitoba has been a bust. The government has
spent millions on pot; however, the pot crop has little medicinal value
and may be corrupted by mine contaminants. Will the minister shut down the operation, or will taxpayers continue to be shafted?

re: Does Hon. Steven Fletcher support the removal of cannabis as a schedule II controlled substance from the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (S.C. 1996, c. 19)?
Dear Hon. Steven Fletcher,
Do you support the simple removal of cannabis as a schedule II controlled substance from the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (S.C. 1996, c. 19)?, and let it be treated the same as Lettuce, Tomato, Oregano, Roses, Aloe Vera, Fern or any other common garden herb, flower or house plant?
Do you know the difference between Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Ruderalis?
I look forward to receiving your responses as it will be made public, so then others wont need to ask you the same question.
Kind regards,
Sam Vekemans (address)
P.S. All 307 Members of Parliament are being asked these same questions.
